We are currently taking orders for the 2012 season.
What is a CSA? A CSA consists of a community of individuals who pledge support to a farming operation where the growers and consumers share the risks and benefits of food production.
By joining our CSA, you are helping support our local family farm and we in turn pledge to provide you with clean, delicious meat and eggs from animals that are pasture raised, free of chemicals, pesticides and never fed genetically modified grain. By purchasing a share, you enable us to plan how much to grow and provide the funds necessary to get that first delicious batch of chickens from the brooder to the market in May. In return, you are guaranteed a certain amount of meat/eggs at a discounted price.
How it Works:
For our 2012 CSA Program we will be using a debit system. You choose what size share works for you and you receive that amount of meat and eggs plus a 5% bonus (credit card customers will receive a 2.5% bonus). For example, if you choose a $500 share you will receive $525 of meat and eggs. CSA members will also have the opportunity to choose products that aren’t available to the general public. You can shop weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. Whatever is convenient for you. If you’re planning to buy in bulk (i.e., 10 chickens or 10 pounds of ground lamb) we would appreciate prior notification so we can bring extra to the market that week.
CSA Season:
The CSA Season runs from April through December. Your share must be used by the end of December. Unused share amounts cannot be refunded or carried over to next year. Thanksgiving Turkeys will not be included in the CSA this year and will have to be purchased separately.
CSA Pick Up:
We will be at the following farmer’s markets:
- South of the James Farmer’s Market @ Forest Hill Park, Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- My Manakin Market, Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Lakeside Market, Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
On Farm pick up is also available. Please call first to make sure we’re home.
