Ø       Pasture-Raised Poultry:  Research demonstrates that pasture-raised poultry yields more nutritious meat and eggs.  One independent study revealed that compared to conventional chicken meat, pastured chicken meat contained 21% less total fat, 30% less saturated fat, 28% fewer calories, 50% more vitamin A, and 100% more omega-3s.  All of our poultry is processed on our farm to ensure a clean and safe product.  Our processing area is inspected by the Virginia Department of Agriculture.  This allows us to sell to local stores and restaurants.

Excerpt from Mother Earth News:
Most of the eggs currently sold in supermarkets are nutritionally inferior to eggs produced by hens raised on pasture.  That’s the conclusion we have reached following completion of the 2007 Mother Earth News egg testing project.  Our testing has found that, compared to official U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) nutrient data for commercial eggs, eggs from hens raised on pasture may contain:

·          1/3 less cholesterol

·          ¼ less saturated fat

·          2/3 more vitamin A

·          2 times more omega-3 fatty acids

·          3 times more vitamin E

·          7 times more beta carotene

Ø       Pastured Pork:  In addition to the amazing difference in the taste from the flavorless pork produced on factory farms, pork from pasture-raised pigs is more nutritious. Studies indicate that pastured pork has more vitamin E and more omega-3 fatty acids than factory-farmed pork.  By letting our pigs root around in the pasture and woods we let our pigs be pigs.

Ø       Grassfed Lamb:  Grassfed animal products have been shown to be higher in beta carotene (vitamin
A), conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), and omega-3 fatty acids, which are important in reducing cholesterol,
diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure and other life threatening diseases.  These products are lower in fat,
cholesterol and calories.  In addition, the risk of infection by E. coli in these products is virtually
          eliminated.
